What It Boils Down To

A couple of weeks ago during worship our congregation was given an "assignment" for the week. We were challenged to individually write down a statement of what we believe as far as our faith. And then to read it out loud to someone. The idea is to help us make the most of opportunities to share our faith with others when they come. Here you go, Lord, Church and world, this is what I believe with all my heart and soul. I stake my life upon this, which is what it boils down to:

I believe that the LORD, the Almighty God of Israel is the one true God. I believe that His Son, Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah and Savior of all mankind. I believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. I believe He lived a sinless life on earth and died on the cross to bear the sins of all mankind, including me. This was the demonstration of the great love of God the Father to all mankind. I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after His death. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Comforter who manifests the presence of God in my life. I believe in the authority of the Holy Bible and the Scriptures therein as God's Word to His people and to me personally. I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and that I am forgiven of my sins and redeemed to God the Father through Him. I believe that I (my soul) will one day live in Heaven for eternity.

I believe in loving the LORD my God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and loving my neighbor as myself. I believe in loving my wife as Christ loved His Church. I believe in loving my children and bringing them up in the training and instruction of the LORD. I believe in worshiping the LORD in spirit and truth. I believe in singing a new song to the LORD and using His gift of music in me to praise and glorify Him, and lead others to do the same. I believe in playing my part in and living my life in the community and fellowship of the Body of Christ. I believe in the Great Commission of the Church to go and make disciples of all nations in the name of Jesus Christ. All praise, honor and glory to the LORD Almighty and to His Son Jesus Christ forever and ever. Amen.
